APEC Technomart IV Announcement
To follow the goals of
APEC and the proposals made by APEC leaders and to implement "APEC Agenda for
Science & Technology Industrial Cooperation in the 21st century"
To enhance the development, application, transfer and
commercialization of industrial science and technology achievements and spur
the sustainable development of technology-oriented economy in the region through
the exchange and cooperation and technological innovation, flow of goods, services,
and capital among different member economies. (See

1. Exhibition & Transaction of High Technology and Hi-tech
Products
(1) Exhibition of high technology & high-tech products
developed by enterprises (including multinational companies), research institutes,
science & technology industrial parks and business incubators from APEC members.
Ways of presentation include samples, prototypes, machines, models, pictures,
and booklets (English or Chinese with English translations).
(2) Explanatory introduction to high technology & hi-tech products and bid for
technological cooperation on the location of the Technomart. News release of
high-tech projects and intention of seeking partners by enterprises and science
& technology industrial parks from APEC members.
(3) Discussions and negotiations on technological transaction and cooperation.
With APEC member economies and technological suppliers of various institutions
both at home and abroad forming the main body, other institutions are also welcome.
2. Seminars & Lectures
(1) APEC Forum on Science and Technology
Themes of the Forum will focus on the key technological areas of Technomart
IV and are outlined as follows:
Prospects of IT Industry in Asian-Pacific Region in the 21st Century
Material Technology in the 21st Century
Biotechnology and traditional Chinese medicine (natural medicine) in the 21st
century
Cooperation among science & technology industrial parks in Asian-Pacific Region
in the 21st century

Themes of lectures will focus on development and cooperation of industrial science
and technology in Asian-Pacific Region and are listed as follows:

Governmental officials, senior managers and specialists
from governments, technological companies, universities, banking institutions,
securities agencies both at home and abroad will deliver innovative academic

2. Size of Exhibition Booth and Expense
An area of 16,000 square meters which can hold more than 800 standard booths
is provided for the Technomart. The size of a standard booth is 3 m ¡Á 3 m, and
is separated from others on three sides by partitions. Besides, every exhibitor
is provided with a name board, a desk, two chairs, a lamp and a socket (220
V, 50 Hz).
USD1,000.00
is charged for every standard booth.
The smallest
block exhibition space is 36 square meters and is charged at the price of USD150.00
per square meter.
Discount or preferential price is offered to group exhibitors.
Decoration and arrangement of the exhibition booth or space will be made by
the exhibitor. All exhibits to be displayed must meet the requirements of fire
prevention. If exhibitors need power supply (380V) or have special requirements
for network interface and decoration, please contact the secretariat in advance.
Fees for these services are charged separately.
Calling for papers
During the technomart, the APEC Forum on Science and
Technology and a series of lectures will be held. A collection of abstract of
papers will be published to commemorate the event. All participants are encouraged
to submit papers. The deadline for submission of papers is May 31, 2001.
The abstract of the paper should be submitted in English or in Chinese with
English translation. It should be of no more than 1,000 words in English (two
pages) or no more than 2,000 words in Chinese. The whole paper should be submitted
as well. Please indicate in the paper and in the abstract the author's name,
member economy, title and position. Please send the paper and abstract by E-mail.
Exhibitors may put advertisements on the promotional objects, the website
and other advertisement carriers of the technomart. Details of the arrangement
and the price list will be made known on the website of the technomart.
Application
Exhibitors may directly send applications to the
secretariat, which will then inform APEC ISTWG (Industrial S&T Working
Group focal point or any designated
agency in each member economy. Exhibitors should read carefully and
fill in the relevant forms clearly. Application forms can be sent through
fax, e-mail or website of the secretariat. Online application can be accessed
on the website of the secretariat. The application deadline is May 31,
2001. The location of exhibition booth or space for exhibitors is arranged
by the organizer. Priority will be given to those who apply earlier.
Registration Fee and Miscellaneous Expenses
Fees are charged for exhibition booth or space and registration.
Participants should pay for accommodation, travel and other miscellaneous expenses
by themselves.
All delegates to the technomart should register in advance and pay the registration
fee (Delegate Registration Form is included in Appendix 2). Two delegates' registration
fees are waived for any exhibitor that applies an exhibition booth or space.
Confirmation will be made only after the secretariat receives the registration
form and registration fee.
Registration fee: Delegate: $150 per person
Entourage: $100 per person
Deadline for delegate registration: July 31, 2001.
The registration fee for delegate covers the expenses for various activities
during the technomart such as the exhibition, business talks and seminars, documents,
brochures and a collection of abstract of essays, social and cultural activities;
local transportation and tours during the technomart.
The registration
fee for entourage covers the expenses for exhibition, business talks, cultural
activities, local transportation and tours during the technomart.
Language
The working language during the technomart is English.
Written introduction to exhibition may use English or Chinese with English translation.
Method of Payment
Please enclose the registration fee and exhibition booth
fee while you mail back the Delegate Registration Form and Exhibition Application
Form to the secretariat. Fees must be paid in US dollars. Methods of payment
include: Bank Transfer to: Bank Draft drawn on: Please indicate on your bank

Booth Fee". In addition, please fax the photocopy of your payment voucher to
the secretariat for our reference.
